Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged

Situated on ten acres in Livonia, the sprawling grounds of Manoogian Manor with their lush gardens, shady trees and a fountain with water splashing playfully in the pond, offer tranquility to residents and visitors alike. Wide walking paths invite you to explore, and comfortable benches throughout, call one to sit for peaceful contemplation.

Inside the Manor, you’ll feel at home because you are home. Residents utilize our house physicians or their own and benefit from the ease of onsite house exams, physical, occupational and speech therapy, podiatry, x-ray, lab work, and medication management.  Fully licensed by the state of Michigan for assisted living, Manoogian Manor associates are experienced in accommodating the individual needs and wishes of each resident.  We have staff on duty 24 hours a day so residents can rest easy knowing we’re here for them, day, and night.

Manoogian Manor’s dedication goes back to 1949 when thirteen Armenian women founded the Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged.  In 1970, with the philanthropic legacy so generously provided by Alex and Marie Manoogian, Manoogian Manor opened its new doors. From its humble beginnings, this Michigan based nonprofit now provides a safe and caring residence and makes it possible for our diverse community to live a happy, independent life.

Our bi-lingual team of compassionate and seasoned professionals assists residents with those activities of daily living that often become challenging.  We take care of the laundry, the housekeeping and the cooking so you don’t have to.  Meals, prepared by our skilled chefs, are served to all in our spacious, sunny dining room or outside on the veranda.

Residents join in group and individual activities that are available all day, every day.

Residents enjoy gardening, outdoor concerts, painting, lecture series and discussion groups. Our customized van accommodates wheelchairs, so your adventures aren’t limited to the Manor.  Life is full of surprises and that doesn’t stop when you’re home at Manoogian….surprises like carriage rides, driving along on Woodward at the Dream Cruise, Frankenmuth and outdoor concerts.; even our very own annual classic car show!

Our family of residents has diverse backgrounds, and we support each guest with their individual needs, physically, mentally, and spiritually. Weekly religious services are held in our chapel for those residents wishing to participate.

Residents choose from beautifully appointed private or semi-private rooms, some of which are ideal for couples. We will furnish the room, or you may choose to bring your own, this is your home and we want you to be surrounded in comfort and look forward to what each new day brings.

This is your life, your home, and we’re honored to welcome tomorrow, together here at Manoogian Manor.

History & Origins
1949
In 1949 the first Michigan Home for the Armenian Aged was opened in a small farmhouse in Detroit. This was made possible through the efforts of thirteen dedicated Armenian Women and the entire Armenian Community.
1964
In 1964 a ten acre parcel of land was purchased in order to meet the demands of caring for the elderly. Manoogian Manor became a reality with the dreams, foresight and determination of many individuals, as well as the generous support of our benefactors, Mr. and Mrs. Alex Manoogian.
1970

In 1970 the doors opened and the facility was officially dedicated to the memory of Mr. Alex Manoogian’s parents: The Takvor and Takouhi Manoogian Manor.

Today

Since these beginning days Manoogian Manor has expanded to house 60 residents, of all nationalities, ensuring our elderly a continuance of family life filled with peace, comfort and security. While out facility has expanded, our culture of caring remains as strong as it was from day one. Our culture of caring is our top priority for all who we are entrusted with caring for.
